THE WITCH IN ME

My mother taught me to draw at an early age, but it was that painting of the gypsy woman over my aunt's piano that inspired me to study art at Baylor University. I lean into a loose interpret of my subjects and have been described as a "true colorist with a fearless approach to painting”. As featured artist at the Wylie Art Gallery for 10 years, I enjoy a nurturing art community and have displayed my work in galleries around the Metroplex. My subject matter is often found in music, children, and faith, creating portraiture with an edge, and I was recently commissioned by a Dallas County courthouse to paint four, large pieces with references to God and Country. Perhaps my favorite piece, "Pensive" was awarded 1st place by the Richardson Civic Art Society. To view some of my artwork, click the ART dropdown above.
I continue to enjoy my passion for music and write, record, and perform as a member of the BMI performing rights organiztion and a 30+ year member of Dallas Songwriters Association. Recently named the Vern Dailey Songwriter of the Year by the Dallas Songwriters Association, I also received 1st place in the Amnesty International Peace Contest for my song, "What Will You Give?" With 7, shape-note church hymns completed, I'm now working on two Christian-based musicals and continueing to expand co-writing opportunities with songwriters of different styles and points of view. See some references to past musical successes in photos below.
A 35 year member and published winner of the Poetry Society of Texas, a founding member of the Wylie Historical Review Committee, the Treasurer of Wylie Historical Society, and a person of faith, I stay busy in small town America. My husband and are also proud owners of the Gallagher House, a state recognized home in our local Historic District.
